Description of fields

The only required fields are name and country; all the others are optional. All fields must be lower case. If latitude and longitude are entered, the coordinates of the school will be displayed at the top of the article, unless overridden by setting the Template:Para parameter.

image The name of the school logo's image file including the extension but excluding the "File:" or "Image:" tag at the start. School_Logo.png
size For rare situations where you need to force the width of the image. If this is omitted, an image wider than thumbnail size will be scaled down, while narrower images are presented unchanged. 200px

image2 The name of a secondary image file including the extension but excluding the "File:" or "Image:" tag at the start. School_Building.png

latitude The latitudinal position of the school North of the Equator. This must be given in decimal (dd.dddd) format. 52.4830
longitude The longitudinal position of the school East of the Greenwich Meridian. This must be given in decimal (dd.dddd) format. Use negative values for locations West of the Greenwich Meridian. -1.8936
coordinates_display By default, the coordinates are displayed to the right of the title, at the top of the page. This can cause an error if there is more than one set of coordinates in the article. To override the display in the title, use Template:Para - valid values are the same as the Template:Para parameter of Template:Coord, except that omitting Template:Para or leaving it blank is the same as Template:Para. inline,title

established The year, decade or century in which the school was founded. Where possible (never before 1585), use the template Template:Tl. 1066, 1060s, 11th century, {{Start date|1888}}<nowiki>, <nowiki>{{Start date|2010|08|21}}, etc.
approx If anything is entered into this field, the date of the school's establishment is displayed as an approximation with a "circa" (c.) before it. Anything at all
closed If the school is no longer open, the year, decade or century in which the school was closed. Where possible, use the template Template:Tl. 2007, 1850s, 19th century, etc.

type What type of school is it, and how is it funded? This information can be found on the EduBase website (England), Scottish schools online, the NGfL website (Wales) or the DENI website (Northern Ireland). Academy, City Technology College, Community, Foundation, Voluntary aided, Voluntary controlled, Public, Independent, etc.
Primary, Comprehensive, Selective, Boarding School, Further education college, etc.
religion What, if any, religious affiliation does the school have? Roman Catholic, Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, etc.
president The name of the President of the school. n/a
head_label How the head of the school is referred to. If this field is left blank, it will default to "Headteacher". Headteacher, Headmaster, Dean, Principal, etc.
head The name of the current school head. n/a
r_head_label If the school has a religious leader, what he/she is called. Chaplain, Provost, etc.
r_head The name of the current religious head. n/a
deputy_head_label How the deputy head of the school is referred to. Deputy Headmaster, Deputy Headmistress, etc.

r_deputy_head_label If the school has a religious deputy leader, what he/she is called. Deputy Chaplain, Deputy Provost, etc.

chair_label How the chairperson of the school's board of governors, trustees, etc., referred to. Chairman of Governors, Chairwoman of Governors, Chairman of Trustees, etc.

founder_pl If anything is entered into this field, the Founder field will be displayed as Founders. Anything at all
street Street on which the School is located. Church Road, Mill Lane, etc.
city City, town or village in which the school is located. Don't forget to create a wikilink. Liverpool, Kirby Muxloe, Edinburgh, etc.
county County or Local Government Area in which the school is located. Don't forget to create a wikilink. Leicestershire, Monmouthshire, East Riding of Yorkshire, etc.
country The constituent country of the UK in which the school is located. Do not link – see WP:OVERLINK England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland
postcode The school's postcode. n/a
LEA The school's local authority. This can also be found on the DfES website. In the case of Unitary Authorities, be sure to link to the correct council article. In the case of counties, be sure to link to the County Council article, not the county. For an Academy this is not normally given because Academy converters are independent of the local authority. Hampshire County Council, Nottingham City Council, North Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council, etc.
dfeno (previously dcsfno) The 7-digit DfE number of a school in England or Wales, available from the DfE EduBase website. A slash should separate the first three digits, identifying the local authority, from the last four, identifying the establishment within the LA. Template:Schoolsfinder
urn (previously dcsfurn) The 6-digit DfE Unique Reference Number (URN) of a school in England or Wales, available from the DfE EduBase website and the Ofsted website. The field generates a link to the school's page on EduBase. Template:EduBase
old_urn Only used for Academy converters in England. This field should contain the old 6-digit DfE Unique Reference Number (URN) of a school in England or Wales, which is available from the DfE EduBase website under the "Links" tab for the new Academy. The field generates a link in the Ofsted field to the pre-Academy Ofsted reports. Template:Ofsted
ofsted Any non-blank text in this field signifies that the school's teaching is inspected by Ofsted, and causes a link to the current Ofsted reports page for the school to be generated from the value of the urn field. Anything at all

enrollment The total number of pupils and/or students at the school. Try to give a year-on-year average rather than an exact number of pupils at the school at any one time. lower_age The lowest age at which a pupil can enter the school. n/a
